Mountain View Buddhist Temple was honored to host a Flag Signing Event

History of the Flag Signing Event

Inspired by Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Roberta Hayashi, Dr. Karen Korematsu, and Civil Rights Attorney Dale Minami, Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Johnny Cepeda Gogo obtained WWII era, 48-star, American flags with the goal of inviting ALL Japanese American incarceration camp internees to sign a flag.

Judge Gogo brought a flag to MVBT on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 1 pm – 4 pm. This flag will travel to Colleges/Universities as part of a photo exhibit from a Santa Clara University Professor who took recent photos of the 10 major WRA prison camps and contrasts/compares with photos from 1942-1945.
